This traditional Quinta, built in 1871, was painstakingly restored in 1988 from a ruined state into an award-winning home with rooms that are large, light and luxurious and with surrounding gardens abundant with palm trees, camellias, scented climbers, avocado trees and dazzling bougainvillea. The house sits peacefully on the hillside on the Caminho do Monte below the famous wicker toboggan run with breathtaking views over its own heated swimming pool to the town and bay of Funchal and the sea beyond. The conservatory entrance hall leads to a spacious lounge and dining area, with open log fire for winter evenings and French windows giving access to the gardens and pool. The fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room leads out to a laundry room, BBQ area and shower/WC for use after swimming or sunbathing. Upstairs there is a double en-suite bedroom and a further double and a twin bedroom with shared bathroom - both bathrooms are sumptuous. Neighbouring owner, Joy, will give you a warm welcome and be on hand if needed. Maid services (and baby-sitting if required) is provided by friendly Ciseltine. |

Old-established, quiet residential area of Funchal below the famous Monte toboggan run. A 10 minute ride on the local bus to Funchal centre or 25 minutes' steep walk downhill. |

This is very spacious, sunny and comfortable with armchairs and sofa seating for 6, French windows opening on to the garden and an open fireplace with logs provided for winter evenings. Cable TV, a DVD/VC recorder, CD/cassette radio and free internet broadband access - bring your own laptop and connection cable.
At the far end, convenient for the kitchen, a traditional dining table with chairs has seating for 8. A sweeping staircase behind this area leads upstairs. |

Fully equipped and well designed, with a table and chairs that seat 6 and gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster, cafetière, plus crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking/serving utensils. |

The three, comfortable bedrooms are upstairs with gorgeous sea views: two double (one en-suite) and one twin. The bedrooms are furnished and decorated to a very high standard, with plenty of wardrobe space. The beds are made up with crisp white cotton sheets and, for the cooler winter nights, each has its own electric under blanket. |

Both bathrooms are sumptuous and beautifully fitted out with bath and separate walk-in shower and an electric towel rail. One is en-suite and the other shared. Hairdryers are provided. |
| General: |
Fully furnished with cleaning and linen changed twice-weekly. A basket of provisions and fresh flowers will be waiting for you when you arrive. Open log fire (weekly charge of €25 for logs) and portable gas heater for winter months. High chair and cot available on request. Hair dryers provided. |
| Outside: |
The house is ideal for indoor/outdoor living and you can enjoy eating meals outside in every season except perhaps Jan-Mar. The gardens/terraces are secure with sunbeds, chairs, tables, parasols and a Weber BBQ. The private pool can be heated from October to end April by ADVANCE REQUEST to maintain the water temperature at approx 26 degrees centigrade. A charge for this of 10 euros per day is payable locally on arrival. |

I can book a car to be waiting in the airport car park for you to pick up and pay for by credit card when you arrive.
