Only one booking is accepted at a time. Sunny, private and south-facing, you have a heated jet stream outdoor pool, an indoor exercise pool, and large terraced areas and gardens (with/without shade) all with stunning views over Funchal to the surrounding hills and the ocean. Completed in 2002, its Dutch architect/owner has provided 5 star luxury throughout - you will lack nothing. An immaculate villa, beautifully maintained and superbly located - handy for the expressway, buses, shops, restaurants and for exploring the charming, bustling town of Funchal or going further afield to discover the beauty of this tropical island. Typical main villa bedroom

A private elevator and a staircase give access to both units separately, from street level and the garage. The TV room contains a Plasma screen + DVD player, broadband internet access and quality sofa bed. Dining tables: main villa seats 4 in lounge + 8 in large entrance hall with piano! Annex seats 4. Outside tables can seat 12 in total. The two kitchens have plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware including egg cups, mugs, good quality cooking utensils and an electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster, orange juicer and food mixer. Cleaning and a linen change is carried twice weekly. The inside and outside pools are heated to a minimum temp of 24șC and 20ș C respectively. On the terrace is a pool WC/changing/shower room, BBQ area, table tennis area, sun loungers, umbrella and occasional tables & chairs. A baby cot, chair & safety gate are available.

    If you would like the water temperature of the outdoor pool raised above 20șC during the cooler months the costs are as follows:

     OCT-MAR: 
    To raise the water temperature from 20șC to 22șC = €100 per week

    To raise the temperatures above 22șC, add a further charge of 50 euros per 1șC (max 25șC)
    APR, MAY & SEP: 
    To raise the water temperature from 20șC to 22șC = €75 per week
    To raise the temperatures above 22șC, add a further charge of 35 euros per șC (max 25șC)
    JUN, JUL & AUG:
    The water temperature should be 22șC minimum without extra heating so this is not normally required 

     IMPORTANT: This extra heating needs to be pre-booked and payment is accepted in euros when you arrive at Vila Rostrum. 

  • Linen and full range of towels included, changed weekly. Cleaning is provided twice weekly on Mondays and 3 or 4th day during stay.

  • Substantial "Welcome Basket" is supplied to all new arrivals, including basic and breakfast provisions, wine and fruit.

    		 The “ground floor” accommodation sits above street level and measures 190 m2 inside and 750 m2 area of garden and terraces. It comprises: 
    • Main entrance hall/dining room, fully furnished to include a piano, a dining table for 6-8 people and electric heater.
    • Intercom and video system to the entrance door.
    • Completely furnished living room with sofa, side tables, puff, armchairs, electric adjustable chair suitable for those with limited mobility, cupboard, electric heater, connection for cable TV, books, games and plenty of tourist information.
    • Open plan dining/kitchen area within the living room with table for 2-6 people and fully equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, extractor fan, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, coffee machine, juicer machine, Vista Alegra crockery and cutlery for minimum 8 persons etc. (Specification can be downloaded on request).
    • Bedroom with two electrically adjustable beds 90x200 cm encased in one frame and suitable for use as one large double bed, duvets, wardrobes with mirrors, armchair, side table, electric heater and (cable) TV. Pure cotton linen and towels included.
    • Bathroom equipped with luxury fittings and bath, walk-in power shower, toilet, bidet, double wash basins, under floor heating and a hairdryer. Shower gels, shampoo, hand gels, toilet rolls and soap are provided. This bathroom is spacious enough for wheelchair access to the bath and the double wash basins. 
    • TV room with broadband internet access, a plasma TV screen with full surround sound, DVD player and play station with 5 different DVD games, electric heater and a sofa which opens out into a comfortable bed for a child or adult. Bedlinen and towels included.

    Accessed from street level and villa, by elevator or by stairs, the annex is self-contained and yet part of the same property.

    • a massive open plan lounge/dining room, whose wall of south-facing French windows opens on to an extensive terrace with views of the mountains, the amphitheatre of Funchal and the ocean.  Cable TV, DVD player and broadband access.
    • the kitchen area is beyond, fully equipped with fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, dishwasher, electric kettle and coffee machine
    • a separate utility room with washing machine, steam iron and ironing board
    • a bedroom with French windows opening on to the same terrace and 2 beds (90x200 cm) wardrobes with mirrors, armchair, side table.

    • Guests will have private use of and easy access to the following: 

    • the outside swimming pool (20șC minimum - extra charge for additional heating) with Jet Stream facility, an infinity edge and automatic cover surrounded by a fence for the safety of guests and children.
    • a changing room situated next to the pool with changing area, shower and toilet. Pool towels included. This room has wheelchair access to the toilet, basin and shower. The washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rack are housed next to the changing area.
    • a covered area behind the villa with table tennis table, entrance to the indoor fitness/swimming pool (see below) and Churasco BBQ area
    • a small indoor fitness/swimming pool (24șC minimum) with Jet Stream facility and some fitness equipment such as an exercise bike and fitness machine for upper legs.
    • large outside terraces and gardens, partly covered, with 4 outside tables on covered terraces, 8 teak sunbeds with mattresses and parasols. Covered Churasco (BBQ area) with sink. Wood is provided.

     

     

     

     

     

    CHILDREN

     

    *** Children are welcome only if guests accept full responsibility for their safety. The villa could possibly be deemed hazardous for children under 12 years or children without a swimming licence. The pool is 250cm. deep however it is protected by a fence and accessed through a gate. Please note that the railings in front of the villa are only 40 cm. high and the flowerbox underneath is 40 cm. deep. The electrical sockets are not child proof. A baby cot with linen and duvet, baby chair and a safety gate are available.

    AIRPORT TRANSFER We can book a taxi or minibus to transfer you from the airport to Vila Rostrum. Our drivers speak excellent English and are paid locally. Taxi normally 30 euros and minibus normally 45 euros per journey.

    Linda or Emily can visit you at Vila Rostrum to help you plan what you might want to do while you are here.  You can learn about (and make bookings for) restaurants, outings such as island tours, levada walks, dolphin/whale watching trips, evening shows, golf, madeira wine tastings, tropical gardens, etc.

    		 The rates that we have negotiated with a local hire company include two named drivers, fully comprehensive insurance, up to 2 child seats, airport pick-up and drop-off and NO EXCESS PREMIUM APPLIES. We can book a car to be waiting in the airport car park for you to pick up and pay for by credit card or cash when you arrive. All We need is your choice of car group and flight details.
